AVAILABLE POSITIONS

Creative desiGn coordinator

Sozo Children, USA
Full-Time
Sozo Children seeks a highly innovative Creative Design Coordinator team member with experience in the non-for-profit sector to join the team of Sozo Children’s headquarters in Birmingham, AL. This position serves under the leadership of the Marketing Director and works closely with team members in both the US and Uganda. The primary responsibility is to write and design innovative communication tools through engaging storytelling and branding initiatives as part of the overall relationship building and support raising strategy. This team member is responsible for writing, designing and producing print and digital communication materials, oversight of all social media platforms, web design, blog content, and assisting in Sozo Children’s marketing and fundraising events. 

Qualifications: Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in graphic design/journalism or equivalent certification or experience. A minimum of three years of comprehensive graphic design/journalism experience in a nonprofit organization preferred. Extensive experience in Adobe Creative Suite, and some experience in Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere. Experience using MS Office applications is required. Requirements include the ability to create effective marketing materials with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANT

Sozo Children seeks an accounting and finance team member with experience in the non-for-profit sector to join the administrative team in Birmingham, AL. This position is under the leadership of the CFO and also works closely with the CEO and COO, along with other team members in both the US and Uganda. Primary responsibilities include accounts payable, bank deposits, reconciliations, preparing the monthly financial statements, assisting CFO to coordinate annual audit, annual budgeting, and assisting CFO with developing internal financial controls. This team member will also oversee the organization’s Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) database including data entry and ensuring integrity of the data, and the ability generate reports to help facilitate relationship building opportunities with the donors. This team member provides support of Sozo Children’s development and fundraising efforts by managing all aspects of gift processing and donor acknowledgment in accordance with applicable laws and policies set forth by the organization.

Qualifications: Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. A minimum of five years of comprehensive accounting experience in a nonprofit organization preferred. Demonstrated experience in CRM is preferred. Experience using MS Office applications and QuickBooks is required.  Requirements include the ability to work independently with little supervision and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits. Skills and use of common bookkeeping software is required; previous experience in QuickBooks or related programs

Retail Associate

Sozo Trading Co. has an immediate opening for a Retail Associate. If you are looking to gain invaluable experience working retail within a faith-based nonprofit organization with a mission that makes a global impact, this may be the opportunity for you. Sozo Children is looking for a part-time Retail Associate to help with stocking inventory, customer service, and meeting sales goals. We are looking for applicants who are organized self-starters, disciplined, willing and excited to learn new things, will work hard and stay on task, with excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment. Must be able to work 20 to 30 hours per week and some Saturdays. 

WAREHOUSE Associate

Part-Time
Sozo Trading Co. has an immediate opening for a Warehouse Associate.  If you are looking for an opportunity to serve in a faith-based non-profit organization with a mission that makes a global impact, this may be the opportunity for you. Sozo Children is looking for a part-time Warehouse Associate to help with picking up donated items, unloading and sorting donated items, and organizing the warehouse. We are looking for applicants who are organized self-starters, disciplined, willing and excited to learn new things, will work hard and stay on task, with excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment. Must be at least 25 years of age, have a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a box truck, and able to lift 60 pounds. Must be able to work 31 hours per week and some Saturdays.
