INTERN WITH SOZO CHILDREN

COME BE A PART OF OUR OFFICE

We love our office interns and they play a huge role in the daily success of Sozo Children. All office internships with Sozo Children are unpaid, however, you will receive valuable hands-on non-profit work experience and we provide academic credit per your university guidelines.

Successful candidates are typically students or recent college graduates with excellent communication skills, organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and have an interest in ministry work. Please note that office interns must provide their own laptop, housing arrangements and transportation to our office in Birmingham, Alabama. All internships require 10-15 hours per week.

Child Development Intern

For the person passionate about teaching, ministry, and missions. As the Child Development Intern you will come alongside the Child Sponsorship Coordinator to help develop curriculum, grow professionally, and learn about how a non-profit works. 

- Collaborate with Child Development Coordinator on writing Bible curriculum for Uganda
- Edit written content
- Use the Bible to develop child devotionals
- Understands child developmental stages to formulate age appropriate material
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in deadline-driven environment
- Understands importance of cultural competency

Marketing Intern

For the person passionate about content creation, events & fundraising. As the marketing intern you will work along the Marketing Director and Media Coordinator to help create marketing strategies to help increase fundraising for Sozo Children.

- Collaborate with Marketing Director & Media Coordinator on all marketing efforts
- Create content for newsletters, trend stories, company news, storytelling, advanced creative writing
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in deadline-driven environment
- Possess creativity, flexibility, attention to details, strong communication and professionalism
- Assist with fundraising events from brainstorming to implementation
- Familiar with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop

Graphic design + social media Intern

For the person passionate about creative communication, social media marketing, and powerful photography + design. As the Graphic Design + Social Media Intern you will work alongside the Media Coordinator to help create monthly social media plans and design marketing materials for Sozo Children.

- Collaborate with Media Coordinator on social media efforts
- Make edits to the website and other marketing materials
- Work with our team on design projects from brainstorming to implementation
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in deadline-driven environment
- High level of experience with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
- Familiar with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop

Mission trip Intern

For the person passionate about sending teams, administrative efforts, and business management. As the Mission Trip Intern you will work alongside the Commissioning Coordinator to help coordinate trips to Uganda and Haiti with Sozo Children.

- Assist the Commissioning Coordinator with organizing and keeping team files up to date
- Communicate with team members regarding upcoming deadlines
- Follow up with team members to collect all required documents
- Communicate and assist team leaders prior to team departure
- Help pack items to and from Uganda

RECRUITMENT Intern

For the person passionate about recruiting, events, and public relations. As the Recruitment Intern you will work alongside the Commissioning Coordinator to help coordinate university events and talk with students about trips to Uganda.

- Assist the Commissioning Coordinator with yearly recruitment events
- Attend recruitment events at various universities, schools, churches, and conferences*
- Communicate effectively Sozo Children’s various opportunities of an involvement
- Seek and follow up with new recruitment event leads
- Follow up with event participants in a strategic and timely manner.
- Students pursuing a degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or business management preferred.
* some travel may be required

WOMEN’S MINISTRY INTERN

For the person who is passionate about learning about social entrepreneurship, empowering and equipping women, and working with ethical jewelry design. As the ‘Two for ONE Purpose’ women’s ministry intern, you will work alongside the co-founders of the organization, helping with day-to- day operations.

- Interested in jewelry design and creation
- Able to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
- Characterized by creativity, flexibility, careful attention to details, strong communication, and professionalism
- Available for local travel and evening trunk shows
- Familiar with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to assist in designing marketing materials
- Knowledgeable of Squarespace to help update website
